Monolith Soft seemingly found their footing with XC1 and 2, two fans darling and I can easily understand why, because they're great games, but are ultimately "only" stories of boys coming out of age and exploring the world in a pseudo-medieval setting. It's not that I dislike them, I actually liked quite a lot XC2 and even found it better than XC1 in many ways, but XCX was just so much more. Even today, when I compare it with XC2 and Torna. Xenoblade Chronicles was great for sure, but Baten Kaitos never really grabbed me and, sorry to disappoint, I think Disaster Day of Crisis is a huge pile of crap.īut when I managed to get my hands on Xenoblade X, it just hit me different. I wasn't really that big of a fan of Monolith Soft's input back then. Amongst those titles was one that looked unlike any other, and one that was bolstering hope in a very unique way. The Wii U was essentially a walking disaster and fans (including me) were trying their best to reassure themselves about the upcoming slate of games. It was a completely different era back then, compared to now. It took me some time to realize that it's almost seven years old, but despite that, and the fact that Youtube's gradual compression absolutely killed the video's quality, I'm still mesmerized by that video, and all the memories this game brings me back. I randomly scrolled through my youtube playlist up until I came across the E3 2013 trailer of Xenoblade X on Wii U, back when it was only known as "X".
